30 Boxes - Fluid

July 14th, 2008 by Narendra

fluidI stumbled upon Sylvain’s 30B fluid icon on Flickr and discovered that Fluid is a great tool for Mac OSX Leopard to create a stand alone instance of a website (like 30 Boxes!) as an application.

30 Boxes can be launched from your dock and performance seems normal except for the scroll wheel which doesn’t seem to behave the same way.  You can download this graphic if you want to have the 30B logo as the app icon.

Vote for 30Boxes in the Webby Awards

April 10th, 2008 by Julie
Webby Awards

We are proud to annunce a second consecutive Webby Nominee in the Services category.  Only a tiny fraction of thousands of websites receive this honor so we are pretty excited.

The Webby’s allow the users a voice by announcing a winner and a People’s Voice in each category.  We need your help (and your friends’ help) in the voting.

You can find all of the voting information here.

Thanks again and remember that you are part of the product building process with 30 Boxes so we share this distinction will everyone who helps to make 30B a useful and fun Web application.

We will be moving and upgrading during the next few days. Please expect some intermittent downtime as well as a few kinks on the other side. We appreciate your patience (and help if you find bugs!)

We will be doing status updates via twitter/30boxes.

Update — we are targeting downtime either tonight (Tuesday) or tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.

Update — we are up and running at Verio.  There will be bugs and issues that may take a couple of days to work out completely.  If you see anything odd, please post in the forum.

30 Boxes for iPhone — oh so sweet!

January 25th, 2008 by Narendra
30Boxes for iPhone!

We are going to take the uncharacteristic step of congratulating ourselves on this one. A relatively full functioning version of 30 Boxes Calendar is now up for iPhone — available at http://i.30boxes.com

The design is inspired by Apple but we took the functionality up a couple notches.

The good:

  • after the initial load, it is very snappy even on EDGE
  • one box!
  • easy to use and pretty
  • all of your web stuff as well as the latest on your buddies with a news feed
  • your friends latest upcoming events from inside 30 Boxes and out on the web

The could be better:

  • initial load time on EDGE
  • can’t edit repeating options (too much of a pain on first pass)
  • it is a first release so tell us about bugs in the forum
  • ok, that’s not so bad

Spread the word. We’re back and with multiple projects in the works.

Your favorite indy calendar has cleared 300,000 registered users!

Since Alexa has become useless, here is a nice graph from compete.com that shows the facebook effect.

Baby-Feed For Facebook

July 23rd, 2007 by Narendra

We’ve just put out a handy new upgrade to the Facebook version of 30 Boxes. It is sort of a miniature version of Buddy Updates about you that appears in your Calendar box on your profile page in Facebook.

Baby-Feed does the following:

  • If you are sharing events, it will list the last thing you added or updated
  • If you have any web updates, the most recent one for each site (e.g. flickr) is listed.
My Baby-Feed
Oh, and did you know that the 30B version of letting you know what your friends were doing preceded the Facebook news feed and the latest lifestreamers? You saw it first, right here!
